Christmas Day, 2020
This wretched year nears its end.
And there probably has not been a year in the modern history of the United Kingdom – perhaps even in the history of the United Kingdom itself – which has been more eventful for law and policy.
But a highlight for me has been reviving this blog and doing a daily post, and so I thank you all for reading and supporting this blog.
A Merry Christmas you lot, and we will see each other on the other side.
(And I hear someone has delivered a ‘Deal’.)

Hallo! A great deal of steam! The pudding was out of the copper. Oh, a wonderful pudding! Bob Cratchit said, and calmly too, that he regarded it as the greatest success achieved by Mrs. Cratchit since their marriage. Mrs. Cratchit said that now the weight was off her mind, she would confess she had had her doubts about the quantity of flour. Everybody had something to say about it, but nobody said or thought it was at all a small pudding for a large family. It would have been flat heresy to do so. Any Cratchit would have blushed to hint at such a thing.

I really appreciate this blog. Personal blogs of this type seem to be in decline, so it seems a little old-fashioned, but in a thoroughly good way.
Twitter has been invaluable as a source of information on Brexit, if – and it’s a bit if – you know where to look, and when to stop. The site as a whole is toxic and not conducive to good mental health. The expression ‘doomscrolling’ pretty much sums it up. So it’s good to be able to read your analysis here instead.
The well-moderated comments section, with trolls and ranters firmly excluded, is a treasure in itself.
Thank you for sharing your insights each day—as a non-lawyer, I appreciate your clear, jargon-free, logical and measured analyses of current issues in public law in general and Brexit in particular.
