In my post earlier today on Lord Etherton I confused the Knight Grand Cross of the Most Distinguished Order of St Michael and St George for the Knight Grand Cross of the Order of the British Empire.
I got the gong wrong, and I apologise.
This is going back a few years, but for a while, when watching that bit at the beginning of any State occasion when the “great & good (?)” troop into Westminster Abbey or St. Paul’s, bedecked in ermine and stockings and imperial bling and funny hats, either I or my sister would intone, in our best Chuck Bariss impression: “It’s the Gong Show!”
Go and stand in the corner with your hands on your head!
